Tahereh Ghassemi: The Full Story
Following the contentious divorce between Tahereh and Hamid Ghassemi, a tragic sequence of events unfolded. Hamid, who was ordered to pay a substantial divorce settlement, played a sinister role in the events that followed. He provided weapons and a syringe to individuals involved in the plot.
Tahereh was ambushed by these individuals, and after a struggle, they injected her with insulin, rendering her unconscious. They then attempted to transport her to a gravesite but couldn’t locate the pre-dug holes. Consequently, they resorted to shooting Tahereh in the head and burying her in a shallow grave, subsequently setting her car on fire.
Hamed Ghassemi, Tahereh’s son, reported her missing on the same day her body was discovered.
One of the individuals involved, Daniel Humberto Richter, who had worked for Hamid Ghassemi, accepted a plea deal to avoid the possibility of a life sentence. Richter pleaded guilty to manslaughter for his role in the murder-for-hire plot that unfolded in April 2015.
Richter’s involvement included recruiting others, specifically Skyler Williams and Tyler Lee Ashpaugh, to participate in the abduction and killing. They forcibly abducted Tahereh Ghassemi from her home at gunpoint and transported her to a remote area in St. Helena Parish, where Ashpaugh fatally shot her multiple times in the head before concealing her body beneath brush.
Initially facing a first-degree murder charge, which carried a mandatory life sentence upon conviction, Richter agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison as part of the plea deal. It’s worth noting that Richter had previously entered a plea deal in this high-profile case in 2018, pleading guilty to manslaughter and second-degree kidnapping, and had agreed to cooperate with prosecutors. However, he later withdrew his pleas and did not fulfill his promise to testify against his co-defendants.
Skyler Williams, aged 25, also pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a 30-year sentence in exchange for his plea.
